Anytime is a great time to take a trip to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, in Newport, Rhode Island. A wonderful combination of history, current news (including a wide screen monitor to watch current tournaments underway) and training, it includes all aspects of the game. For example, below are examples of the evolution of the tennis racket The facility collects and displays material in six areas, including film, video and oral histories; photograph collections; object collections; personal player memorabilia; magazines, programs and periodicals and library collections. They employ a well designed display utilizing multimedia which draws on these categories. Racquet construction, clothing fashions, player details and hardware of the sport are well represented in the museum hosted by the Hall of Fame. Furthermore, for a modest fee a visitor can attend a training class right there on the grounds. Just be sure to bring your whites!
